Whether you’re new to iOS, or just want to pick up some useful tips and tricks, we're here to help. This is iOS Advice.
Sometimes typing on a touchscreen device can be tedious. Whether you’re in a rush to send a message, or hate repeatedly typing a long phrase, iOS has built in keyboard shortcuts that might make things a bit easier. Keyboard Shortcuts will automatically expand a few characters into a word or phrase.
To get a better understanding of custom keyboard shortcuts in iOS, check out the video or follow the steps below:
Step 1: Go into the Settings app on your device and tap on General.
Step 2: Swipe down to the bottom and tap on Keyboard.
Step 3: Scroll down to the bottom of Keyboard settings and tap on Add New Shortcut.
Step 4: Enter your phrase and shortcut combination, then tap on Save in the top right corner.
You have now successfully setup a keyboard shortcut. To test it out, go into the Notes app and type in the shortcut you've created. The characters should expand into the phrase you entered during the setup.
These shortcuts will work in native and third party apps. Add as many shortcuts as you’d like to help simplify your touchscreen typing.
