Don’t Get Caught Being Sneaky, Use Private Browsing

September 6, 2012
Whether you’re new to iOS, or just want to pick up some useful tips and tricks, we're here to help. This is iOS Advice. Private Browsing is a great feature for Safari. If you're sneaking around on the Web to find a gift for someone special, you won't have to worry about their prying eyes looking through your history. This feature allows you to use Safari without it saving a record of your browsing history, login information, searches, and cache. When you’ve finished browsing, disable the feature and all of your history during the Private Browsing session will be deleted. To enable Private Browsing, watch the video or follow the steps below: Step 1: Go into the Settings app on your device. Step 2: Next, scroll down to Safari and tap on it. Step 3: Halfway down on the screen, turn on “Private Browsing.” When you're done with that, you’ll be asked if you’d like to close the existing tabs in Safari before entering Private Browsing. When you open Safari, you’ll notice that the color of the browser has changed to black. This color change is an indicator that Private Browsing is enabled. If you’d like to switch back to normal browsing, repeat the first two steps and turn off "Private Browsing." Now that you’ve learned how to privately browse the Web, if there’s something else you’d like to see on iOS Advice, please let us know.
