Forecaster ($0.99) by Augment is a simple weather report app for your iPhone. If you are the type of person that just wants to know the predicted temperature for the week and you don’t need the Doppler map or the minute-by-minute forecast, then your in for a treat.
"Minimalistic" is the best way to describe this app. There are no animated maps or interactive news reports. There are no “Peeps” and no hurricane watchers. There is just a number, a symbol, and a picture.
That’s not to say that this app isn’t very useful. When you open it, you will see the current conditions right away. It is the biggest number on the screen. If it feels like the hottest day you’ve ever experience, you’ll be able to tell right away.
The app does more than tell the current weather conditions. Users can also see what today’s highs and lows will be, plus a five-day forecast for the same thing.
You can also add custom locations to see what the weather will be like in other parts of the world. If you are planning on spending the weekend at the beach, find out how warm it will be by entering the city’s name. You can add as many custom locations as you like.
And that is all there is to this simple app. There is no mucking about with precipitation and humidity. It’s either sunny, cloudy, foggy, snowing, or raining. Do you really need more information than that?
