Apple Store App Now Includes Passbook, Siri Integration

November 8, 2012
The Apple Store app has received an important update. Version 2.4 brings Passbook and Siri support for the first time. According to the company’s release notes, the latest app version includes:
Buy new gift cards and email them to friends and family right from the app. These gift cards are easily integrated with the new Passbook app (U.S. only, iOS 6 required). Ask Siri to help you find prices and shop for Apple products. (Siri-enabled device required.)

At this time though, the app’s Passbook/gift card integration doesn't seem to actually work. Siri, however, can now help users find products as advertised. But unfortunately, it doesn't search within Siri. Instead, it just opens up the Apple Store app. We wish it was integrated, like sports scores and restaurant reviews are currently. Both of these changes add to the mobile Apple Store experience and follow other enhancements made to the app in recent months, including support for the iPhone 5 and Express Checkout. The free Apple Store app is available in the App Store.
