Hostess Twinkies Aren't The Only Hot Items On Ebay As Apple Joins The Fun

November 20, 2012
A new “refurbished outlet” has quietly launched on eBay. On it, customers are able to purchase repaired Apple products including iPads, MacBooks, and iPods. According to 9to5Mac, this site is special because Apple is actually the company running it. Originally launched earlier this month, the eBay site is currently offering 23 products, each is available through the auction site's "Buy It Now" feature. Current items include a refurbished 13-inch MacBook Air for $1,159, and a 32GB “new” iPad for $599. In concluding that Apple is the one behind the site, 9to5Mac states:
Besides the fonts, which are a wreck, there are lots of telltale signs of Apple’s direct involvement. Just like Apple’s own refurbished products, the “refurbished outlet” products all have the following:
  • Full one-year warranty
  • Returned to like-new condition
  • iPads/iPods include a new battery
  • Received complete burn-in testing
  • Original OS re-installed
  • Repackaged with manual and cable
  • Final quality inspection by Apple
Apple has yet to confirm this story.
