How To Set Up Contact Relationships For Siri

Siri is a very useful feature that is now available on quite a few different iOS devices. You can set up reminders, send messages, and even call people with Siri. Another great Siri feature is the ability to specify contact relationships. When this feature is configured, you can say things like, “Tell my brother to meet me at the store.” That specific command would send a text message to my brother. You can even set reminders by using commands like, “Don’t let me forget to call my grandmother.” If you’d like to learn how to set up contact relationships, watch the video or follow the steps below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwP86QFtNGY All of this can be set up with Siri, but you have to add yourself as a contact first. Before we get started, create a contact with your information and save it. It's also important to note that this works best using contacts synced with iCloud or a supported exchange server. Other account types will not have a variety of relationship categories to choose from. Step 1: Open the Settings app on your device. Next, tap on General and navigate to the row labeled, “Siri.” Step 2: Tap on “My Info” and select your contact profile from the list. Now that you’ve set up your contact information, you can begin adding relationships by invoking Siri and saying things like, "Bobby is my brother." Relationships can also be added through your contact profile within the Phone or Contacts app. Step 1: Open your contact profile and tap on “Edit” in the top right corner. Step 2: Now, tap on the plus sign next to “add field” at the bottom of the screen. Select “Related People” from the list, then specify a relationship by tapping the relationship name on the left side of the row. Step 3: Finally, tap on the blue arrow to the right and select a contact. I’ve found this feature to be very useful when sending messages, creating reminders, or making calls with Siri.
