Apple Execs ‘Seething’ Over iOS 6 Maps Debacle, Google Maps Approval

December 14, 2012
Apple is very secretive about their app approval process. However, when it came time to accept Google Maps into the App Store, the conversation probably went something like this:
Apple Team: Mr. Cook, it looks like Google got it right. Better than ours, in fact. Tim Cook: Ugh! Do it before anyone else complains.
We envisioned this conversation based on what the influential blogger John Gruber recently posted on his website. In it, he says that Apple executives are “seething” over the public’s joy at Google Maps’ iOS 6 return. He states:
I think Apple — where by “Apple”, I mean the company’s collective executive leadership — is seething regarding the way this has played out. Everything from Apple Maps being the butt of jokes to the accolades and joy that have accompanied the release of the new Google Maps iOS app. Seething.
Personally, I'm glad that Cook's team is unhappy over the iOS 6 Maps fiasco. This almost guarantees that iOS 7 Maps will be brilliant and that would benefit all of us.
