Corona Labs Buys Game Minion, More Cloud-Based Cross-Platform Apps Expected

December 13, 2012
Corona Labs has announced the acquisition of Game Minion, a mobile cloud services startup. Now rebranded Corona Cloud, the company focuses on developing cross-platform cloud services, including multi-player gaming, push notifications, and more. According to Mohamed Hamedi, co-founder of Game Minion:
Game Minion has focused on building services that greatly simplify the amount of work needed to fulfill developers’ backend needs. Through this acquisition, we will provide the most complete end-to-end mobile development platform on the market. Features that would normally require the integration of half a dozen SDKs will be offered by Corona Labs in just one, neatly-packaged API.
Located in Palo Alto, Calif., Corona Labs boasts a community of over 200,000 developers worldwide. They have helped create cross-platform applications, games, and e-books for iOS, Android, Kindle Fire, and NOOK. Corona Cloud is currently in closed beta and is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2013.
