Whether you’re new to iOS, or just want to pick up some useful tips and tricks, we're here to help. This is iOS Advice.
When you create a new email on your iOS device and begin to type in a recipient, you may notice iOS automatically populating a list recent email addresses. These email addresses are a combination of your contacts and people you’ve recently emailed.
Sometimes this populated list can become cluttered with a lot of addresses from different people or domains that you don’t email on a regular basis. The good news is, there’s a way to remove those unwanted contacts. The only downside is that there's no way to remove these addresses in bulk.
If you’d like to clear out your recent email contacts, watch the video or follow the steps below:

Note: Email addresses that are tied to a contact on your device cannot be removed from this list.
Step 1: Open the Mail app on your device and create a new email.
Step 2: Next, tap on the “To” field and begin typing an email address. Different email addresses will begin to populate in a list.. These addresses are your recent email contacts that iOS is associating with the first few letters of what you’ve typed.
Step 3: In order to remove unwanted recent email contacts, tap on the blue arrow next to an email address. Next, you’ll be taken to a dedicated screen for that email address. Remove the address from the recent contacts list by tapping on “Remove From Recents.”
The address will now be removed from your recent email contacts. If you’d like to remove additional email addresses, repeat this process until you’ve finished cleaning up the recent contacts list. Check out our video overview for a detailed look at this process.
