It goes without saying that iTunes Gift Cards make wonderful holiday presents. Apple knows this too and has made it very easy to send e-cards directly from the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. You can also gift individual items such as apps, music albums, and movies too.
Here’s how to do it:
Gifting iTunes Gift Cards
On the featured page of the App Store, iTunes Store, or iBookstore app, click “Send Gift" at the bottom of the screen.
Next, add the email of the person receiving your gift. You can also add a message up to 200 characters.
Select the denomination. You may choose $15, $25, $50, $100, or Other.
Enter the date the gift should be sent. By default, this is set to “today.” You can also choose any day in the future up to 365 days in the future.
Hit “Next.”
Now, select what you want the e-card to look like. Apple is currently offering six themes, five of which are specifically geared towards the holidays.
Finally, hit “Next,” and then “Buy Gift” on the Confirm Your Gift page.
Please note: iTunes Gift Cards work in the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore, regardless of the store where they were purchased.
Gifting apps
You can also gift individual apps, music, movies, and TV shows. However, this isn't possible in the iBookstore, although you can gift audiobooks in iTunes.
To gift an item, click on it in the store. Next, select the "Send To" icon at the top right of the screen. Then, click on the "Gift" icon.
From there, the directions are the same as the ones mentioned above. You can even select a different theme for your individual gift, which is pretty nice.
We hope that this helps you finish up your holiday shopping list!
