It's A Christmas Miracle As Apple Changes Course On Popular Kickstarter Project

A successfully funded Kickstarter project that was effectively killed by Apple has gotten a reprieve. The POP is a portable power station that connects to any mobile device, even those that are Android-based. Funded in September, the project had been doomed because Apple wouldn’t approve its use of a Lightning and 30-pin connector. However, Apple has had a change of heart, according to CNET. In a statement, Cupertino says:

Our technical specifications provide clear guidelines for developing accessories and they are available to MFi licensees for free. We support accessories that integrate USB and Lightning connectors, but there were technical issues that prevented accessories from integrating 30-pin and Lightning connectors so our guidelines did not allow this.

Those guidelines have now been changed. Naturally, this news was met with joy from Edison Jr CEO Jamie Siminoff, who stated:

It's great news. It's crazy. If you had asked me yesterday morning 'what did we think was going to come out of this?' I wouldn't have even thought anybody -- not even a line-level employee -- would have seen this at Apple.
