What Users Should Know About Apple's Planned iTunes Connect Shutdown
December 17, 2012
This should be a busy week for new and updated apps. Beginning Friday, Dec. 21, the folks that run iTunes will officially be in holiday mode. Here is what this means for developers and users.
After Friday, new or updated app submissions will be delayed until at least Dec. 28 when iTunes Connect opens to developers once again. This means that the prices seen in the App Store, iTunes, and iBookstore on Friday with remain in place for at least a week.
Luckily, developers know this and will likely use the shutdown week to everyone’s benefit.
Specifically, don’t be surprise to see many of the most popular iPad apps heavily discounted Dec. 21-28. After all, one would expect that there will be many more iPad mini and iPad with Retina display users beginning Christmas morning, Tuesday, Dec. 25.
