It Isn't Hard To See Just How Quickly Our iOS Devices Could Become Outdated In 2013

January 10, 2013
In recent months, a lot of technology chatter has focused on the likelihood that Apple has now shifted to a six-month product life cycle for the company’s mobile devices. Now, MacStories has released a series of diagrams that puts this shift into perspective. Last month, I suggested that there was no reason for current iPhone and iPad customers to fear a six-month product turnover schedule. My reasoning was that most of these would be incremental updates. In other words, it wouldn’t be necessary for even the most passionate of Apple fans to replace their iPads twice a year, for example. I certainly stand by the points I made in December. However, seeing the words "iPad mini 3" and "iPad 6" on a 2013 calendar does cause me some slight uneasiness and might for you too. I mean, knowing that my $600 iPad with Retina display could soon be replaced not once, but twice in the next few months does cause some queasiness. Would you agree?
