NewsWhip Is Worth A Spin No Matter Where You Live
January 11, 2013
There are a countless number of ways to get news on an iOS device, either through an app or a mobile browser. The new kid on the block is NewsWhip, which recently arrived in the App Store.
Available for free, the universal app will remind many of Flipboard or Zite, both in its design and content. However, unlike these, NewsWhip curates all of the news from Twitter and Facebook, not just the news on your personal social graph.
Stories are arranged by places, and topics. Additionally, as you keep using NewsWhip, those stories that will likely most interest you show up under the My Whips tab.
NewsWhip’s strongest selling point could be that it isn’t U.S.-centric like other services, unless you want it to be. By default, the stories are curated worldwide, although this can be changed to specific countries or regions with ease. This makes complete sense given that NewsWhip is based in Dublin, Ireland.
Other features include:
NewsWhip looks promising and is definitely worth checking out.
- Filter for the trending news in topics including politics, gossip, tech, fun, music, movies, gaming, startups, health, food, and 12 different sports.
- Check what's trending in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, India, Europe, China or South Africa.
- We only serve quality news. NewsWhip will only ever display the news that the world is sharing and talking about, so the contents are always excellent - or at least entertaining.
