The Budget iPhone Could Include Elements Of Previous Apple Handsets
January 28, 2013
For many, any talk of a rumored budget iPhone begins and ends with the opinion that Apple already produces less expensive handsets, by the names of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. However, if the folks at iLounge are even half right, Apple could change a lot of people's minds on whether the company would find success for a budget iPhone.
According to “reliable sources,” the handset will be made of plastic, and be a cross between an iPhone 5, fifth-generation iPod touch, and iPod Classic. According to the report, the phone will be slightly larger than the iPhone 5.
As such,
It is around a half-millimeter taller and a half-millimeter wider—nearly imperceptible differences—as well as almost a millimeter thicker. Beyond shifting from glass and metal to a substantially plastic chassis, the most significant change Apple will make is in the curves.Additionally, the handset is said to include the same sensor, camera, and button arrangement as the iPhone 5. On the side, the phone will have pill-shaped volume controls that look like the ones on the iPod touch, and iPhone 3G/3GS. As the report summarizes:
In summary, the budget iPhone will look a lot like an iPhone 5 from the front, an iPod classic from the side, and an iPod touch 5G on the bottom—only made from plastic rather than glass or metal. It won’t make any bold departures from past Apple designs, but then, it’s supposed to be an inexpensive iPhone, and achieves that goal pretty much as expected.I haven't exactly been thrilled with the thought of a less expensive iPhone. Still, the handset described here could make me change my mind. What about for you? Source: iLounge
