Twelve South Debuts BookBook For 15-Inch Retina MacBook Pro

February 27, 2013
Twelve South is known for its vintage-style cases that are designed to resemble old books. The company makes the cases for all of Apple's products, including the iPad, the iPhone, and the MacBook Air, and today, it added the Retina MacBook Pro to the lineup. The new BookBook for the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display shares design similarities with the company’s other cases, featuring hand-distressed leather in chocolate brown with hints of red on the spine. It has been created with the computer’s slim size in mind, and the case is 30 percent thinner and lighter than the BookBook for the standard MacBook Pro, adding just 22 ounces to the weight of the RMBP. Twelve South mentions that the RMBP BookBook is designed to look like a well worn coffee table book. It’s definitely not going to look natural on a book shelf, given its large size, but it still offers attractive protection for your computer. It has two hardback covers, a padded spine, and reinforced corners, that will keep that expensive laptop safe even when you toss it into a bag. If you’re wondering why the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro was left out, well, it wasn’t. Because the 13-inch computer is similar in size to the MacBook Air, it is able to share a case, so you can get the BookBook for any of Apple’s computers. The BookBook for the 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro can be purchased for $79.99 from the Twelve South website. Versions of the BookBook for the MacBook Air or the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro also retail for $79.99.
