Updated: Free CBS Programming Finally Available On iPhone And iPad

March 14, 2013
This is a huge day in the world of mobile entertainment. This is the day that CBS has finally gotten it together and launched a streaming app for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. The CBS app offers full episodes of primetime, daytime, and late night series. Each episode streams in HD. The app also includes a personalized show list, live social feeds, photo galleries, and much more. Most episodes will post one day after they originally air. However, some won’t be available until eight days after the initial broadcast. Video is accessible via 3G, 4G, LTE, and Wi-Fi networks. It only works in the U.S. and territories. CBS, the No. 1 network in the U.S., had long resisted making free episodes of such hits as “The Big Bang Theory,” and “NCIS” available on iOS devices. This doesn't mean that America's Most Watched network didn’t dabble in Apple’s playground. The CBS News, CBS This Morning, and 60 Minutes apps have featured full episodes on iOS devices for a long time. Other shows have also had a presence including Elementary, NCIS: Los Angeles, and 48 Hours Mystery, among others. Personally, I'm thrilled that CBS has finally released an app. It is available now in the App Store. Updated: Please note that not all shows will be available for streaming at launch. In particular, it looks like full episodes of "The Big Bang Theory" may be delayed. We'll keep you updated.
