Craigslist iPhone Buyer Claims He Was Whacked On The Head With Pistol By Seller

March 4, 2013
A visit to Craigslist got one man much more than he bargained for on Saturday, March 2. The 22-year-old just wanted to buy an iPhone. What he got was a pistol beating in the head, and was robbed, according to The Dallas Morning News. At just after 6 p.m., the would-be buyer met the iPhone seller in an Outback Steakhouse parking lot to complete their transaction. As the buyer was counting out $450 for the phone, the seller fired a gun into the ground. The seller, who had a partner, then “whacked” the buyer across the chin with the gun. The victim claims that he was robbed of $3,000, and no doubt, never got his iPhone. Craigslist has become a popular place for iPhone sellers to meet buyers. In this case, the buyer did everything most people would do to avoid any problems. This included scheduling the meeting in a public place, and at a time when it wasn't yet dark. My only hesitation in believing this story comes down to the amount of money that was allegedly stolen. Having $3,000 on your person sounds like a lot, don't you think? If you're looking for a used iPhone, it would probably be wise to avoid Craigslist. Instead, check out our 2012 iPhone Trade-In Guide for recommended places to go. Please note that the prices quoted there are from September and aren't guaranteed now. Photo: Gizmodo
