TextGrabber + Translator Is Now Fully Compatible With Apple's VoiceOver Feature

April 9, 2013
TextGrabber + Translator is making it easier for the visually impaired to experience stories around them. The latest update to the popular app combines on-device Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology for mobile platforms with Apple’s VoiceOver functionality. First launched in May 2011, the $4.99 app turns your mobile device into a multifunction mobile scanner with translation capabilities. Converted text may be edited, translated, or shared. By adding VoiceOver functionality, TextGrabber users who are blind can now hear what is on the screen. This is done through Apple's gesture-based screen reader tool first made popular on Macs. Full version 3.0 features includes:
  • Improved recognition algorithm
  • Full support for VoiceOver
  • Recognized and translated text-to-speech with VoiceOver
  • Sound tips for various interface elements
  • Option to display recognition results in large font
