Updated Yahoo App Includes Summly Integration And More Personalization
April 22, 2013
Yahoo’s official app for iOS has received a noteworthy update. Version 3.0 includes Summly integration for the first time.
The original Summly app was created by then 15-year-old Nick D’Alosio in 2011. It presented the news in less than 400 words. In March, Summly was purchased by Yahoo for a reported $30 million. After the announcement, Summly was pulled from the App Store.
The updated Yahoo app uses Summly’s natural-language algorithms and machine to deliver news stories in a user’s feed. It also offers stories based on a user’s interests.
