AppAdvice App Of The Week For July 22, 2013
Every week, our staff will handpick an app from the past two weeks that we believe is a must-download for your iPhone or iPad. These apps will always be from various categories, but they are chosen because our own staff members love it and have been using them daily. So here are this week’s picks! Enjoy!
Agenda Calendar 4Looking for a powerful calendar app that will perfectly compliment iOS 7 when it’s released? Then you will want to check out our App of the Week: Agenda Calendar 4.
This beautiful new version of Agenda Calendar features a brand new interface that is flat, minimal, but still elegant. There’s a lot of white, so it will blend in with native iOS 7 apps, but it still retains a bounty of information at your fingertips.
Agenda Calendar 4 features three main views: Yearly, Month/Day, and Agenda List. The Year is split into two halves of six months for each year, making it easy to read and see when you have events scheduled. The Monthly will indicate when a day has an event thanks to the colored dots, and you are able to see a list of the selected day’s events, complete with the name, time, and location. The Agenda view will list out all previous, present, and upcoming events that you have scheduled, so it’s just a glance away.
Event creation is easy as well, featuring the Agenda Mini entry. This gives you space for the name and time, but you can expand it to add more details, such as location, alerts, invitees, recurring, and notes. If you are a fan of Fantastical, then the “Send to Fantastical” option is available, where you can use Fantastical’s natural language input to quickly add events, but come back to Agenda Calendar 4 when that’s taken care of. When you view an event, you can quickly share it with others through email or SMS.
We’re loving Agenda Calendar 4 because of the elegant design, powerful features, and how fast and responsive it is. You can find Agenda Calendar 4 in the iPhone App Store for $1.99.

Honorable Mention Ohai for App.netHave you ever wanted to keep track of the places you’ve been and what you’ve done there without having to share it with everyone else? Now you can, thanks to our Honorable Mention pick for the week: Ohai for App.net.
This beautiful little app is your private journal of where you’ve been and what you do. It will require a free App.net account to use, which you can sign up for here.
The app itself is pretty simple — once you’re logged in, you will find a page for today, and there’s one button: “Tap to check-in.” Ohai uses the ADN database of locations, so the list of places and map will be populated with plenty of options for you to check-in to. Of course, if you can’t find what you’re looking for, then you can search for it. If it’s still not there, you can add a location manually by placing a marker on the map and then adding a name and fine-tuning the address. Each check-in can have text added to it, describing what you’re doing. An added bonus is the ability to attach a photo as well.
Now, while Ohai serves as your own private journal, there is the option to share your checkin with App.net or Twitter followers. That’s the great thing about Ohai — you can be as private or public as you want. It’s not like something like Foursquare, where your checkins will be visible even if marked to private (seen by Foursquare friends).
We have been enjoying the app because it’s a great concept that is executed beautifully, and is a joy to use. There’s plenty of features that are being planned for the app in future versions, such as search and deleting of entries. But for now, we like having our own private journal of where we’ve been. You can find Ohai for App.net in the App Store for $4.99.
