MagBak Preview: Hands-On With The World’s Thinnest iPad Mount
by Dom Esposito
August 21, 2013
Last month, Alex Baca launched a Kickstarter campaign to gain funding for a very unique creation. MagBak is designed to be the world’s thinnest iPad mount, and quite possibly, the easiest one to use.
MagBak is applied to the back of an iPad with 3M adhesive and will mount on almost any metal surface without adding a lot of bulk. MagBak also comes with a metal O-Ring backed with 3M adhesive that allows the iPad to be mounted on non-metal surfaces.
Since the Alex launched his creation on Kickstarer, MagBak’s popularity has skyrocketed. Alex only required $15,000 to get this product off the ground, but since MagBak’s campaign went live, Kickstarter backers have contributed over $47,000. Keep in mind, Magbak still has over two weeks left to gain additional funding.
Recently, we had the opportunity to sit down with Alex Baca to discuss his Kickstarter campaign, future device compatibility, and get a closer look at MagBak.

So far, MagBak is on track to become a successful Kickstarter campaign. Once funded, MagBak is estimated to reach bakers as early as September 2013. MagBak is also designed to match Apple Smart Covers and will come in six different colors. If you’d like to get your hands on a MagBak, visit the Kickstarter page or MagBak.com. After the campaign is over, MagBak will be available on the company’s website and possibly through select retailers.
