Before ‘Breaking Bad' For One Last Time, Take A Look At NextGuide For iOS
September 27, 2013
There are many television discovery apps for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. One of the best ones available is NextGuide, which recently received a nice update that coincides with the start of the new television season. It also takes advantage of Apple’s iOS 7.
First launched on iPad in September 2012, NextGuide is now also available on the iPhone/iPod touch. It combines live TV guide packages with some of the most popular streaming video services, including Amazon Prime, Amazon Instant Video, iTunes, Hulu Plus, and Netflix.
Among the features now available on iPhone are a push-based notification system for new episodes, and reminders. Previously, NextGuide only offered an email-based reminder system.
Version 1.6 also includes an episode tracker, fall show preview, and sections on season premieres and new shows for the week. NextGuide also notes what’s new on streaming services, including TV shows and movies.
Finally, the app now includes a universal watchlist and queue. This makes it simple to keep track of programs across multiple devices.
According to Jeremy Toeman, CEO of Dijit Media:
Now with NextGuide for iPhone, we've taken a whole new approach to what the experience should be: simple, streamlined, beautiful, and focused on how people want to find, track, and share the TV shows they love."NextGuide is free to download in the App Store, and is also available online at nextguide.tv.
