The iPhone 5S will include a new type of motion processor, which Apple is calling the M7. Developed to work alongside the new A7 processor, the M7 measures motion, accelerometer, and gestural data.
Apple stresses that this technology could be used for a new generation of health and fitness apps. At today's iPhone event, Apple demoed the processor using a new app called Nike+ Move.
