Today's Apps Gone Free: Tennis In The Face, Sun, iPash And More

September 24, 2013

Save the city from an evil corporation using only a racket and some tennis balls in 10tons' physics puzzler, Tennis in the Face. We also have an app that will teach your child all about the sun, and a command line shell for iPad.

All app prices are subject to change at any time and without notice regardless of stated free duration. Price changes are solely under the control of the developers.

iPhone:

Dappled ($0.99 → Free, 8.6 MB): Test your reflexes whenever you have a little time to spare during the day with this minimalistic arcade game. Different colored dapples, or rings, will appear on the screen at random. You must successfully drag them into their matching goals before they shrink down and disappear. If a dapple does disappear, you'll lose a life. Lose all four and it's game over. Dragging a dapple into the wrong goal will result in the same life-losing sadness, so just don't do it. The game includes the ability to share your high scores via Facebook or Twitter.

Dappled is available for free for a limited time. It has a 5-star rating with a total of 5 ratings.

myNotes™ Pro - Smart Note Manager For Easy Note-Taking ($1.99 → Free, 1.3 MB): A note taking app with a few tricks up its sleeve. Notes can be grouped under separate sections and moved between them. You can also collapse sections to hide personal notes or just create more space. The app's coolest feature, however, is its ability to show you a preview of your notes while in list form. Just pull your two fingers apart while over a note within the list to see what it contains. The app also includes five font types to choose from, multiple font sizes, and the option to show dates.

myNotes™ Pro - Smart Note Manager For Easy Note-Taking is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4-star rating with a total of 24 ratings. Universal:

Nostalgio - Photo Collage Maker, Picture Editor, Pic Frames & Borders for Images ($0.99 → Free, 35.8 MB): Design professional quality photo collages in minutes with this photography app. The streamlined interface takes you through each step of the process by requiring you to choose how many photos you want to include, the type and orientation of your photos, the layout, and the border type. You can also modify photos with filters or rotate them in editor mode. Once everything is to your liking, have your creation sent to the photo library or share it via a variety of social networks.

Nostalgio - Photo Collage Maker, Picture Editor, Pic Frames & Borders for Images is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 213 ratings.

Wide Split Lens ($0.99 → Free, 44.1 MB): This camera app will play tricks on your eyes by blending photos together. You can choose from 51 different layouts and adjust their borders any way you like. You're then able to capture photos manually or by using the self timer. After you've captured at least two quality photos, you can apply different filters and effects to each section of the layout. Once everything looks in order, share your masterpiece via Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, or email. The app includes 116 filters and effects, 11 aspect ratios, and six resolutions.

Wide Split Lens is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 11 ratings.

Diversion for Kids! ($1.99 → Free, 42.2 MB): Run, jump, climb, hang, swim, zip line, slide, and even fly through 205 3-D levels in this platform game. You're able to perform every action in the game with just a single finger. You can collect stars and multipliers to push your score to the top of the Game Center leaderboards. The game also includes seven unique worlds, 700 unlockable characters, boss battles, and achievements via Game Center.

Diversion for Kids! is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 19 ratings.

Tennis in the Face ($2.99 → Free, 38.6 MB): Help Pete Pagassi save the city from an evil energy drink corporation using only a racket and tennis balls in this physics puzzler. Aim your shot by sliding your finger around the screen and release to smash your tennis balls through the air. Try to bounce the balls off of the walls to reach your targets. Set off chain reactions by hitting exploding crates and other wacky objects to earn a higher score. The game includes more than 100 levels, ragdoll physics, and achievements and leaderboards via Game Center.

Tennis in the Face is available for free today only (09/24). It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 148 ratings. iPad:

ipash ($1.99 → Free, 1.1 MB): Inspired by the Unix shell Bash, this utility app allows you to get a little taste of the good old times. You're able to type out all of the most common shell commands, or you can try ipash-specific commands to perform simple tasks like launch Apple's Maps app or generate an email. Common gestures allow you to quickly access command history, autocomplete text, and interrupt the execution of commands. The app also includes Dropbox support. If you're new to Bash, just type in "help" to get a list of commands.

ipash is available for free for a limited time. It has a 3.5-star rating with a total of 6 ratings.

Sun by KIDS DISCOVER ($2.99 → Free, 289.0 MB): This education app will teach your child all about the sun. It covers topics like how a star is born, the sun's core, solstice vs. equinox, and even sun worshippers. Pages are filled with interactive models, trivia, high definition videos and audio, and even a few games and puzzles.

Sun by KIDS DISCOVER is available for free for a limited time. It has a 5-star rating with a total of 18 ratings.
