Twelve South GhostStand For MacBook Review

September 3, 2013
Twelve South calls its new GhostStand for MacBook “hauntingly beautiful." Beyond looks, is the $34.99 desktop stand worth it? It’s time to find out.

The Facts

  • Company Name: Twelve South
  • Product Name: GhostStand
  • Price: $34.99
  • Compatibility: Works with any MacBook
  • Website: twelvesouth.com
  • Date Reviewed: Sept. 3, 2013

What Is It?

The transparent GhostStand elevates a MacBook 6 inches off your desktop or table. By doing so, it raises the MacBook to a more comfortable viewing height, while also providing airflow around the device.

Use and Feel

The GhostStand was inspired by the iconic Ghost Chair by Philippe Starck. Made of transparent plastic, the stand includes non-slip silicone rails that grip the MacBook for a comfortable and secure fit.

How Long Will It Last?

The GhostStand is solid and should last for many years. Twelve South doesn’t recommend disassembly, however, which could prove troublesome during a move.

What’s Hot

If you like minimalist designs and need a stand that is relatively inexpensive, the GhostStand is for you.

What’s Not

Unlike Twelve South’s HiRise for MacBook, the GhostStand only elevates to one height. Additionally, you can’t take it apart once it’s put together.

How Does It Stack Up?

You can probably find a laptop stand that is less expensive. However, you won’t find one with as much style at its price point.

Where Can You Get It, And How Much Does It Cost?

The $34.99 GhostStand is available through Twelve South, and very soon at Apple retail stores. They will also be available through Amazon.

You want style? Go with the GhostStand.
