According To A New Video, Apple’s Touch ID Feature Is A Perfect Fit For iPad 5

October 2, 2013
As we approach the announcement of Apple’s next generation iPad lineup, it’s only fair to speculate that the new models could include the Touch ID feature that was introduced with the iPhone 5s. While we haven’t seen any hard evidence pointing towards truth in this rumor, a new video from UnboxTherapy provides a persuasive argument. As shown in the video below, the home button cutout on a leaked iPad 5 bezel is a bit smaller than its predecessor. That may not seem like anything exciting, but this video takes things a step further. After dissecting an iPhone 5s and removing the Touch ID home button, it appears to fit perfectly in the undersized cutout on the iPad 5 bezel. There’s no evidence to back the findings in the video, but given the way that the Touch ID home button fits in the iPad 5 bezel, it’s either a crazy coincidence or a look into the future of iPad. That being said, it’s important to note that the iPad mini’s home button is identical in size when compared to the one found on the iPhone 5s. It’s possible that Apple has decided to bring the smaller home button from the iPad mini over to the iPad 5. If you think about that theory, it kind of makes sense. With the rumored redesign of the iPad 5, Apple has to downsize the components to fit a smaller tablet. I’d almost be willing to bet that an iPad mini home button would fit perfectly in the iPhone 5s cutout. Take a look at the video below and decide for yourself:
