As originally published:
The iPad Air officially launches in 40 countries beginning tomorrow, Nov. 1 at 8 a.m. local time. As a result, we’re beginning to see some of Apple’s online stores closing down ahead of the launch.
Online stores in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan are already shutting down. More temporary closings are likely in the coming hours.
First announced on Oct. 22, the fifth-generation iPad has received mostly impressive reviews ahead of its release, with AllThingD's Walt Mossberg calling the iPad Air "the best tablet" he has ever reviewed.
The 9.7-inch iPad Air includes an A7 processor and M7 coprocessor, and is much thinner than the previous model. It is also lighter, weighing just 1 pound.
Apple's new tablet launches tomorrow in the United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China (Wi-Fi models only), Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macao (Wi-Fi models only), Macedonia, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
Apple hasn't announced when online sales for the iPad Air will begin on Friday. However, this has typically occurred beginning at 12:01 a.m. PDT.
