Verizon Begins Offering Same Day Delivery Service On Handsets
October 16, 2013
Verizon is testing a same-day delivery service for phones ordered online. The company is trying the service in Philadelphia only. However, it’s expected to expand to other areas soon.
The same-day service is good on any phone in stock at the local Verizon store, assuming the order is placed before 10 a.m. Verizon guarantees delivery by 7 p.m.
The largest U.S. carrier is charging $20 for same-day delivery. This compares to $14.99 for priority overnight delivery.
According to Verizon:
It takes just a few clicks to make purchases online, but waiting for delivery is a drag when you need it now — the very same day. That’s why leading e-commerce retailers such as eBay, Amazon, Wal-Mart and Google are testing same day delivery services in select cities.Besides the City of Brotherly Love, Verizon’s same-day delivery service will soon expand to New York City, Dallas, San Francisco, and Pittsburgh, in the coming months. Personally, I see little benefit in this service. If my local store has the phone I want, I’ll go pick it up myself and save $20. Still, we live in a society that embraces convenience. As such, I wouldn’t be surprised to see same-day phone delivery take off and expand to other carriers in the coming months. Would you take advantage of Verizon’s new service?
