CES: As Apple 'iPad Pro' Rumors Grow, Samsung Announces Two Large Tablets

January 7, 2014
Samsung isn’t waiting for Apple to unveil the so-called "iPad Pro.” At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the company has announced two new tablets: the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, and Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2. Both tablets are expected to arrive globally in the coming weeks, at prices to be announced. Both 12-inch tablets feature a 2560 x 1600 pixel “super clear” display. The Wi-Fi and 3G models include a Samsung Exynos 5 Octa processor, while the LTE models come with the Snapdragon 800 from Qualcomm. Each comes with 3GB of RAM, and either 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage. According to JK Shin, CEO and president of IT & Mobile Division, Samsung Electronics:
This new line offers the best-in-class content consumption and productivity, combining a stunning viewing experience with Samsung’s design legacy. The Samsung Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO truly demonstrate our commitment to providing our customers with extraordinarily versatile product offerings, tailored to tablet users of every description.
Apple is widely expected to unveil its own 12-inch iPad later this year. The latest rumor suggests this could be a hybrid device, and feature a next-generation "A8" processor.
