Today’s Apps Gone Free: Doodly, Overview Calendar, My Artists And More

January 6, 2014

Today’s AppsGoneFree is all about apps that help you focus on something like Tadaa SLR, Immersion Station, and Overview Calendar.

All app prices are subject to change at any time and without notice regardless of stated free duration. Price changes are solely under the control of the developers.

iPhone:

Tadaa SLR ($1.99 → Free, 18.4 MB): Take fantastic SLR quality photos with Tadaa SLR.

Tadaa SLR includes a grid option to help you perfectly align your shot. Focus on your subject and keep a steady hand while your photo is captured. You will then have the option to apply a mask to your subject manually or have the app automatically detect the edges. The aperture, highlight and gloss levels, and range of your blur effect can all be adjusted via sliders. You’re also able to choose circular, linear, or complete blurs. With your subject fully in focus and background blurred, go ahead and add some filters. You’re able to share your completed works of art via Facebook or Twitter. Tadaa SLR is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4-star rating with a total of 71 ratings.

Immersion Station - Infinite Ambient Music ($2.99 → Free, 78.4 MB): Create the perfect atmosphere for whatever it is you need to accomplish with this ambient music app.

You’re able to create infinite mix combinations from the five different loops. Each sphere represents a loop created by ambient music pioneer Steve Roach. Drag spheres towards you to bring them into the mix, and push them away to take them out. You can also move the spheres left and right to change their stereo positions. Loops can be muted by double-tapping their spheres. If you tap anywhere in the background, you can play the custom built-in mixes or create and share your own. The app also includes AirPlay support. Immersion Station - Infinite Ambient Music is available for free today only (01/06). It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 61 ratings.

My Artists ($0.99 → Free, 3.3 MB): Get closer to your favorite artists with this music player.

The app allows you to play any music from your library, and then feeds you artist profiles, discographies, photos, and YouTube videos. You're able to navigate the entire app using gestures. You can also discover new music via the built-in 8tracks stream. My Artists is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4-star rating with a total of 427 ratings.

Overview Calendar ($2.99 → Free, 2.8 MB): A straightforward calendar app that’s designed to fit the way you think about time.

The calendar is represented as an infinitely scrollable timeline instead of as a big grid. Just swipe up or down to glide over it. Tap on a day to add an event. You’re able to attach a time and color to your event to keep things even more tidy. Tap and hold on an already created event to copy, edit, or add something new to that day. There’s also a list view that allows you to check things off as you complete them. Events can be shared on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. The app includes iCloud support, notifications, and seven themes to choose from. Overview Calendar is available for free for a limited time. It has a 3-star rating with a total of 15 ratings. Universal:

He Likes The Darkness ($0.99 → Free, 18.8 MB): Help Paul survive by gathering all of the brightest stars in this platform game.

Paul is a big fan of the darkness. You’re able to help him darken his world by collecting all of the bright stars in each level. Of course, without the light of the stars it can become difficult to navigate the various platforms, so try to gather them in the most logical order. Oh, and you’re timed the whole way through. Good luck! The game includes four worlds and 57 levels. He Likes The Darkness is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 29 ratings.

Doodly ($1.99 → Free, 37.0 MB): Liven up your photos by doodling all over them with this photography app.

You’re able to import any photo from your library or take a new one from within the app. You can then adjust and crop your photo to focus on its subject. The app includes more than 100 original built-in doodles that can be resized, layered, and colored however you like. You’re also able to draw and save your own doodles. Then apply filters, effects, and custom text before sharing your work of art via email, Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. Doodly is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4-star rating with a total of 11 ratings. iPad:

3D Compass HD ($0.99 → Free, 319.7 KB): A digital 3-D compass for your iPad.

Hold your iPad up in front of you, start to spin, and then watch as the 3D compass ball continues to point towards magnetic north. The app also displays the direction in which you're pointing when in horizontal orientation along with the degrees. 3D Compass HD is available for free for a limited time. It has a 3.5-star rating with a total of 42 ratings.

Cubic Block ($0.99 → Free, 26.6 MB): Cut away at collections of cubes to match the blueprint provided to you in this puzzle game.

Your blueprint will appear in the top left corner of the screen. You have a limited amount of time to cut away at the collection of cubes in the middle by tapping on each one separately to match the blueprint. The game includes four different themes, and a total of 80 levels. Cubic Block is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4-star rating with a total of 24 ratings.
