The Jumper Card Is A Swiss Army Knife For Mobile Phones

February 4, 2014
The Jumper Card is a fantastically simple new tool for anyone with a mobile device. The card will charge all iPhones and Android phones. It also serves as an internal backup battery. Created by Eli Regalado, the Jumper Card is currently seeking funding via Indiegogo. About the size of a credit card, the Jump Card features a USB connector on one end, and three of the most popular digital connectors on the other — including those required for older iPhones. These include a 5- pin, 30-pin, and Lightning compatible 8-pin connector. According to Regalado, the card’s embedded battery is to be used in emergency situations only. He notes “The on-board battery holds 480 milliamp hours, or about enough for an hour or so of functionality, so you can continue talking or working until you get to a power source.” He continues:
We wanted to cover all the bases, so we include both a USB connector and an adaptor for use with your car’s cigarette lighter. Just plug the Jumper Card into your phone, tablet, camera or digital hard drive and you’re good to go!
I’ve been using a pre-release Jumper Card for a few weeks. In that short period of time, it has become an essential tool whenever I’m on the road. Take a look: http://vimeo.com/85123966 The Jumper Card will be priced at $30 when it releases to the public later this year. An early adopter donation of $19 on Indiegogo rewards you with a card, which will be shipped in April. Additional funding levels include gifts of more than one card, a carrying case, and USB charging adapters. One funding level ($120) comes with a picture of Apple cofounders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, which is signed by Wozniak. Regalado hopes to raise $10,000 on the Jumper Card by March 17, 2014. This campaign will receive all funds raised even if it does not reach its goal. For more information on the Jumper Card, visit jumpercard.net. [gallery columns="4"]
