A New Software Beta Suggests Apple Is Working On Larger iOS Devices

June 2, 2014
Apple’s latest Xcode beta has an interesting new feature for developers. The built-in simulator tool allows developers to test the way their apps work before compiling. In the new Xcode, Apple has added a “resizable” simulator, which suggests larger iOS devices are coming, according to Cult of Mac. As discovered by Cult of Mac reader Fabrizio, the simulator allows developers to stretch the app to fit an arbitrary secret resolution. They note:
So if devs want to test their apps in a larger iPhone or iPad resolution, they can do so. It’s not a confirmation that larger displays are coming, but the timing is certainly interesting.
The “iPhone 6” is likely to arrive with a 4.7-inch screen, compared to the 4-inch screen on the iPhone 5s. A 12.9-inch “iPad Pro” is also possible, although probably not until 2015.
