Discover could soon join American Express, Visa and MasterCard on Apple Pay
On Tuesday, Apple announced partnerships with American Express, MasterCard, and Visa for its new mobile payments service, Apple Pay. The lone holdout, Discover, could soon be making the jump too.
On Twitter, a Discover representative told a customer “We are in discussions with Apple to add Discover cards to Apple Pay in the future.” No timeframe was announced.

Discover is the fourth-largest card issuer in the United States.
Apple Pay is a new NFC-based mobile payment service that arrives for U.S. customers in October. The service is exclusive to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. It allows users to pay for purchases with a simple tap.
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus can be preordered beginning Sept. 12. They arrive in stores on Sept. 19.
