Today’s apps gone free: Orbsorb, Trigger Points, Van Gogh and more

September 3, 2014

Take control of a neon marker and absorb the incoming orbs in Orbsorb. We also have a health app that helps you relieve chronic muscle pain, and an art reference app.

All app prices are subject to change at any time and without notice regardless of stated free duration. Price changes are solely under the control of the developers.

iPhone:

Drink Water Reminder – Drinking with health and help your fitness ($0.99 → Free, 602.6 KB): Most people don’t drink enough water each day. Stop being like most people by receiving custom-tailored recommendations and reminders with Drink Water Reminder.

We really like this app because it’s so easy to set up. There’s nothing worse than putzing around with a bunch of settings you don’t need just to complete a simple task throughout the day. All you have to do is enter your weight and your awake and sleep times. The app will let you know when you should drink some fluids, and all you have to do is record how much you’ve had to reduce your total.

Drink Water Reminder – Drinking with health and help your fitness is available for free for a limited time. It has a 3.5-star rating with a total of 7 ratings.

Trigger Points – Pain Relief Guide & Reference ($2.99 → Free, 138.0 MB): Find and relieve sources of chronic pain using myofascial trigger points with this health app.

We really like this app because it makes it easy to discover and relieve pain using trigger points even if you know nothing about skeletal muscles. You’re able to hunt down specific muscles or simply point to areas of pain to discover what’s causing it and how to fix it. The app includes over 80 muscles with more than 150 trigger points, so you will be able to relieve everything from tennis elbow to abdominal pain.

Trigger Points – Pain Relief Guide & Reference is available for free today only (09/03). It has a 5-star rating with a total of 5 ratings.

Universal:

Hokusai ($0.99 → Free, 799.9 MB): Browse through a virtual gallery of Katsushika Hokusai’s work with this lifestyle app.

It’s absolutely loaded with content, and that’s always a good thing when you’re dealing with collections of art. It has more than 1,800 pieces of art to browse through or search for, and each is presented in HD, allowing you to zoom way in without losing any detail.

Hokusai is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 20 ratings.

Orbsorb ($0.99 → Free, 21.5 MB): You’re in charge of the great and powerful Orbsorber, a neon marker in the middle of the screen with a smaller orb circling it. The smaller orb serves as a shield, and you must slide your finger around the joystick to block incoming orbs that don’t match your marker. If you fail, your marker will be carved away bit by bit.

We enjoyed this game because it’s quite challenging without being complicated. Simply put, if you lose focus for only a brief moment your poor Orbsorber will take a beating, and you really, really don’t want that.

Orbsorb is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4-star rating with a total of 417 ratings.

Ghostbusters™ Paranormal Blast: Augmented Reality ($1.99 → Free, 48.0 MB): Take on paranormal foes in your neighborhood in this augmented reality Ghostbusters game. You must look through your iDevice’s camera to hunt for spooks and capture them within your ghost trap.

You get to hunt ghosts in your neighborhood and feel like a real life Ghostbuster! How great is that? The ghosts will hover around buildings, near parks, and even right above your friends and family when they’re not watching. It’s up to you to capture them before they wreak too much havoc.

Ghostbusters™ Paranormal Blast: Augmented Reality is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 1201 ratings.

iPad:

Van Gogh: Painted With Words ($0.99 → Free, 160.6 MB): This engaging interactive biography will teach you all about the short but splendid life of Vincent van Gogh.

There’s so much to see and learn here. The biography is broken down into six chapters for easy consumption. As you follow along with Vincent van Gogh’s timeline, you’re able to view his work, read insightful essays, and gaze over personal letters.

Van Gogh: Painted With Words is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 77 ratings.
