The next iPad Air could be as thin as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus if the latest leak is to be believed. The photos from Vietnamese blog Tinhte.vn suggest that Apple’s next tablet could be a thin as 7 mm. This compares very nicely to the iPhone 6 (6.9 mm) and iPhone 6 Plus (7.1 mm). The current iPad Air is 7.5 mm.
These photos also show that the “iPad Air 2” will feature Touch ID. Gone is the mute switch, which also serves as a rotation lock.
On Monday, The Michael Report claimed to have snagged detailed specs of the new device.
In addition to the changes mentioned above, the report said that the iPad Air 2 will feature 2GB of RAM and an Apple A8 chip. The next iPad is likely to be available in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB versions, and come in space gray, silver, and for the first time, gold.
Apple is expected to hold an iPad event on Thursday, Oct. 16.
