Apple announces a 27-inch iMac with a Retina 5K display

Apple has pulled a new iMac out of its bag of tricks brought to the special event today in Cupertino. After months, if not years, of rumors brewing, the availability of a 27-inch iMac equipped with a Retina 5K display is about to become a reality.

The new iMac’s Retina display will come with a resolution of 5120-by-2880, amounting to over 14.7 million pixels. That means pixel-perfect 4K video editing is a possibility. To boot, it’s even 30 percent more efficient with improved power-saving LED backlighting.
