You really need to see Taylor Swift's killer new app and 'Blank Space' music video

November 11, 2014

Taylor Swift might not like Spotify or other streaming music services, but she does seem to love iTunes and the App Store. Her recently released album, “1989,” is already the best selling title since 2002, and this was before the “Blank Space” video was leaked and then released.

For those who might not know, Swift’s latest music video was officially released today, Nov. 11. However, Yahoo accidentally posted it a day earlier.

Swift was supposed to unveil “Blank Space” on “Good Morning America” on Tuesday. After the leak, her team decided to release it on Monday. Given the alliance between Yahoo and “Good Morning America,”

I’m pretty sure the leak was deliberate, but that is a story for another day.

Featuring male model Sean O’Pry—who, like Swift, was born in 1989, “Blank Space” is fun, ironic, and beautiful to look at. So what does all of this have to do with the App Store?

The “Blank Space” music video comes with a companion app for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. American Express Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience is being called a “cinematic interactive music experience,” and it certainly is.

Featuring 360 degree cameras, the app is “an immersive journey with intertwined storylines, multiple rooms and dozens of hidden interactive features waiting to be unlocked and explored.”

I’m not going to give anything away, because there is no fun in that. However, I will say that Swift’s fans and naysayers alike will both like “Blank Space” and the Unstaged app. Her former boyfriends, not so much. Most would call the combination a killer, hint, hint.

You can download the free American Express Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience app, which also includes the full “Blank Space” video on the App Store.
