Apple and Pinterest introduce a new app discovery tool

Finding new apps based on your interests just got a lot easier thanks to a new partnership between Apple and Pinterest. The new “app Pins” feature allows users of the popular bookmarking social network to find and install apps directly from the Pinterest app for iOS.

Using the new feature is very simple. When you come across an app Pin, tap “Install” to download the app right to your iPhone or iPad without leaving Pinterest.

To help you get started, Apple has created their own Pinterest App Store profile. From here, you’ll find a collection of the latest app Pins. You can also save your favorite apps right from the App Store itself.

According to Evan Sharp, a founder of Pinterest, speaking to The New York Times:

We can be a really powerful service for app discovery, which is a problem that still really hasn’t been solved. Our specialty is really connecting people to the things they want to do.

I rarely use Pinterest, but do find this new feature interesting. It could make app discovery much simpler, and personal.

The free Pinterest app is available to download on the App Store.
