OmniFocus for Mac update brings new look and Today/Share extensions

The Omni Group recently released version 2.1 of OmniFocus for the Mac. For those of you who aren’t familiar with OmniFocus, OmniFocus is a Getting Things Done app, and it is arguably one of the most powerful GTD apps available. OmniFocus is available for the Mac, iPhone, and iPad. Soon, both iOS devices will use a universal app instead of separate apps. The apps sync together using Omni Group’s server.

The Omni Group says this is “the first of several planned OmniFocus releases in 2015,” and presents the user with a completely redesigned interface that looks more at home in OS X Yosemite than the previous OmniFocus 2.0. In addition to the new look and feel, OmniFocus for Mac now features Today and Share extensions, just like OmniFocus for iOS. The Today extension allows you to see what actions are due today, so you can view a snapshot of what you need to do to keep on top of your planned projects. The Share extensions provide you with another way to funnel your actions into OmniFocus.

Ken Case from The Omni Group says that upcoming versions of OmniFocus for Mac will continue to be updated to sync more responsively, be easier to scan visually, and be more efficient to use.

OmniFocus 2.1 for Mac is available on the Mac App Store for $39.99, and is compatible with OS X 10.10 or later.
