Starbucks has long accepted digital payments from an iPhone. Until now, however, the largest coffeehouse chain in the United States had yet to embrace Apple Pay in any format.

With the latest update to the official Starbucks app, users can now reload their Starbucks Card using Apple Pay. This means that you can finally ditch your separate credit or debit cards inside the app to reload your account. Unfortunately, Starbucks still doesn’t accept Apple Pay as a form of payment in their stores, although that option is coming eventually.

The 3.2.1 app update also expands calorie information within the Starbuck app’s menu.

As a long-time Starbucks customer, I’m happy to see that they are finally accepting Apple Pay, at least as a reload option. Hopefully, the other piece to this will be implemented very soon.

First introduced last fall, Apple Pay can be used to make in-store purchases using an iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and Apple Watch. Additionally, you can make in-app purchases with Apple Pay using an iPad Air 2, and Pad mini 3.
