If you dread muddling through hours of DIY videos on YouTube, but don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars to have experts do it for you, a new app by Fountain Software might be for you. The app, Fountain, released today and allows you to connect with the pros at a fraction of the cost.

Fountain is geared towards busy homeowners and renters who want to get their household projects done faster and cheaper, while building their DIY skills. Through the app, you can set up a live, two-way video chat or phone call with an expert.

You ask Fountain a question in plain English, and the app connects to a highly-rated home or garden professional who can help you via video chat, texting and photo sharing. Waiting is kept to a minimum because the help request goes out to 20 experts at a time. Whichever pro answers first gets to answer your request.

How much does this cost, you ask? Each chat with an expert is charged $7 per 15 minutes, allowing you to speak to an architect, interior designer, electrician, appliance specialist, plumber, pool pro, flooring expert, master gardener, general contractor, and more.

Conversations are archived, including the text, photos, and products recommended. There is also an option to reconnect with that same professional for future projects.

The app starts you off with a $20 credit, and future payments can be made via credit card. Fountain is available as a free download on the App Store.
