Microsoft updates OneNote for iOS and Mac

Microsoft has updated OneNote for iPhone and Mac users, providing new features in each app. The update to OneNote for iOS brings the app to version 2.1.0, and should make it faster for users to scan through their notes and find the particular one they are looking for. On the Mac, OneNote is up to version 15.8 and includes easier ways to share notes with others.

Let’s look at the iPhone update first. A new design for previewing content in your page list or your Recent Notes allows you to scan snippets of your notes. The snippets include visual content like photos and handwriting, and help you quickly locate the exact note you want to read or edit.

The new version also allows users to drag and drop their list of OneNote notebooks around, so you can reorder them to your liking. Microsoft says, “We’ve supercharged the navigation drawer to allow you to easily reorder your notebooks.” The update also squishes several bugs, but Microsoft does not say which bugs those are.

On the Mac, version 15.8 of OneNote now allows you to send sharing invitations directly from the app using an integrated contacts chooser. You can also see precisely who has permission to view or edit a notebook. OneNote now provides you with an easy path to changing who has authorization to do what with your notebooks. The improved sharing capabilities work with notebooks created on OneDrive and OneDrive for Business.

Next, the update provides an all-new design for the OneNote Web Clipper. You can capture recipes, save news articles to read later, clip products for your wish list, and more. The Web Clipper is an extra download from Microsoft.

It is great to see Microsoft updating its free software with new features and enhancements. OneNote for iOS is available on the App Store. For the Mac, you can download OneNote from the Mac App Store.
