Pepp makes it easy to create music

If you have always wanted to make music, but don’t really have much musical knowledge, a new app called Pepp might be just what you need. The app allows you to make electronic music right from your iPhone or iPad. A spokesperson from Epicore, the developers behind Pepp, told Sonic State, “Thanks to an intelligent rhythm and harmony engine, no musical knowledge is needed. Pepp is immediate, intuitive, and vastly musical by nature.”

Pepp allows users to make their own electronic music with 16 sliders and a 16 step sequencer. You can save and recall your musical ideas, and have 160 memory slots in the app to store them.

Pepp is compatible with syncing via MIDI, which means you can play it live from a MIDI keyboard or sequence it from a DAW. All of the sliders can be mapped to MIDI controllers. The app is also integrated with Audiobus, allowing you to use the app with any compatible app.

Features of the app include:

  • 10 synth oscillators
  • Five drum oscillators
  • FM-synthesis
  • Audiobus
  • MIDI Clock In
  • MIDI In (Notes and CC)
  • MIDI Latch/Gate
  • Intelligent arpeggiator
  • Advanced rhythm engine
  • Lo-/Hi-pass Filter with Resonance

  • Sample and hold
  • Instant resample/reloop
  • Detune
  • Portamento

The app includes the following types of oscillators:

  • Sine

The free version of the app is somewhat limited, but an in-app purchase unlocks all of the features of Pepp.

Pepp is available for free on the App Store.
