Share inspirational quotes with ease in Snaplight
Snaplight, an app that allows you to snap a photo of something you’re reading and then highlight lines in it, has just launched on the App Store. This app is a great way to capture and share inspirational quotes or other texts from the books, magazines, and posters you physically read.
You just snap a picture of what you’re reading, or pick one from your photo library, and then highlight your favorite lines. You can save the highlighted image back to your Camera Roll or share it with others. The app supports both portrait and landscape camera modes, making it easy to use with books that are large or small.
You can quickly create these images and share them to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, email, Messages, and more. Whether you’re highlighting a quote from a book you’re reading now or loading up an old photo from your photo library, the app is easy to use for creating a picture of your highlighted passages.
The developer is Tanner Christensen, product designer at Facebook, and he already has a roadmap for new features. Coming soon, you will be able to adjust the size of your highlighter or use a built-in automatic line height detection function. You will also be able to crop, resize, and rotate photos within Snaplight.
What’s truly amazing about this app is that it is described as Christensen’s “weekend project.” Christensen says he was reading a paperback one weekend and stumbled across a passage he wanted to share with his followers. Not wanting to just write out the quote or make a fancy image on his computer, he came up with the idea to create a simple app that could create the highlighted images from the books he read.
Snaplight is available for $0.99 in the App Store, and is compatible with both the iPhone and the iPad.
