Step up your iPhone photography with Fusion - HDR Camera

The iPhone’s built-in Camera app supports HDR (high dynamic range) photography, but just barely. Since the Camera app is designed to be simple to use, it lacks the controls that many hardcore photographers long for. East Coast Pixels has brought that fine-tuning capability to life with Fusion – HDR Camera, available now on the App Store.

Fusion takes advantage of the new burst mode in iOS 8, capturing three bracketed exposures within three-tenths of a second. The app can automatically calculate these brackets based on an algorithmic analysis of the scene, or the photographer can manually specify them. The app also features a spot meter mode similar to a DSLR camera, as well as a histogram to give you the technical information you need. Within Fusion’s editor, you can adjust shadows and highlights, exposure, contrast, sharpness, white balance, saturation, and warmth. You can also crop your photograph within the built-in editor.

After you take your picture, you can save multiple shots to the Recent Sessions list or go straight to Fusion’s powerful editor. Once done with your picture, you can save your image to your Photo Library or share it through email, SMS, Instagram, Facebook, Flickr, Tumblr, or Twitter. You can also order prints or a postcard of your image straight from the app.

Fusion stores up to 200 sessions, and the app provides you with a thumbnail display of the three brackets for each session. You can delete sessions with a swipe or reopen one in the editor.

Fusion – HDR Camera is available now for $1.99 on the App Store. The app is compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and it is optimized for iPhone 5, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus.
