Isocase will turn your iPhone into a full-sized ultradurable tablet
There are plenty of options out there for protecting your smartphone, from simple bumpers to wraparound cases like the Otterbox Defender. There are also cases that double as external batteries for your devices. But what if you want the protection, extra battery life, as well as the ability to transform your iPhone into a tablet? Meet the Isocase, currently seeking funding on Indiegogo.
Isocase wraps around and connects to your iPhone, providing you with full protection against bumps, falls, and even dust or water infiltration. The case doesn’t stop there, though, because it also boasts a 10,000 mAh battery, its own 7.9-inch Retina display that matches the size and resolution of the iPad mini 3, and a powerful audio system.
Yes, you read that correctly. Isocase not only protects your iPhone and keeps it charged up, but it also transforms your phone into a tablet. The screen is made from 2mm Gorilla Glass and the shell is constructed from armored composite materials to provide full protection to both the case and the iPhone nestled inside it. Despite its feather light composite construction, Isocase says it is strong enough that the manufacturer is in the process of obtaining MIL-STD 810 U.S. military durability certification. Isocase is dustproof, and can be completely submerged in water up to 2 meters deep.
I have to say, I’m very intrigued by this case. Being able to transform my iPhone into an iPad would be very handy for those times when I want to work away from my computer without needing to switch to a second iOS device. Being able to just dock my iPhone into a tablet framework would be a real boon. I’m a gadget junkie, to be sure, but I’m also one on a budget that doesn’t always provide for all of the toys I might want to have.
Isocase is expected to start making deliveries in October 2015, assuming it meets its funding goals. Cases will be available for all models of the iOS smartphone from the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 6, but not the iPhone 6 Plus. Isocase will also support Samsung Galaxy S4, S4 mini, S5, and S5 mini. The manufacturer is attempting to raise $35,000 over the next two months through Indiegogo, and as of this writing has been able to pull in $904 of funding in just two days.
