Confirmed on the Microsoft Windows blog today, May 26, Cortana will be making her way to the App Store. The Siri-like Cortana personal digital assistant is available to Windows Phone and Windows 10 PC users. That reach will be expanding to both iOS and Android users this summer.

According to today’s announcement:

The ‘Phone Companion’ app on the PC will help you install the Cortana app from the Google Play or Apple App Store onto your phone so you’ll be able to take the intelligence of Cortana with you, wherever you go.

Along with the addition of Cortana, Windows 10 users will be able to follow a few steps to get apps onto their iPhone such as OneDrive and OneNote. Photos taken on your iPhone will show up in the Photos app on your PC and a Music app will allow you to play your tunes anywhere. Take your Office documents with you wherever you go and quickly sync notes and photos to your Windows PC.

Windows users will receive some extras that iPhone and Android users will not. For example, changing settings, opening apps, and accessing Cortana with a voice command will only be available to Windows Phone and PC users.

Be sure to check back with AppAdvice this summer for updates on this app’s release.
