Thanks to a recent update to SoundCloud’s free iPhone and iPad application, Apple Watch owners can now use their wearable device to listen to user-submitted music and audio right from their wrists, identify songs playing, and more.

SoundCloud for Apple Watch brings only the most essential features to your wrist, and leaves the rest to your iPhone or iPad. If you’ve got SoundCloud playing on your iPhone and want to see what song you’re listening to, you can swipe up to view a SoundCloud Glance with a “Now Playing” screen to get the track’s title, artist, and artwork.

You can also swipe left and right to move through your SoundCloud content, tap to start or stop a track, and force-tap to add a song to your Collection. The addition of SoundCloud to Apple Watch makes it even easier to hear music and audio on your wrist, discovering new tunes and enjoying the convenience of controlling the app without needing to pull out your iPhone.

It’s great to see new options for discovering and playing music and audio on Apple Watch. SoundCloud is one of the top sources for new independent musicians to release their content, so the Apple Watch companion app makes perfect sense.

SoundCloud is available for free on the App Store, and requires iOS 7.0 or later. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch.
