Photo editing apps abound for the iPhone and iPad, but the majority of the choices available for the smaller iOS device tend to be less feature-rich than the tablet editions. Now that Pixelmator for iPhone has launched, though, photographers have access to an app that has the same features across all iOS devices, phone and tablet alike.
Pixelmator for iPhone boasts a vast toolbox and desktop-class features, along with an extremely powerful graphics engine that allows for quick color adjustments, applying effects, stylized painting, text and object generation, multiple layer support, and more. Pixelmator’s blog post announcing the release calls the app “every bit as powerful as Pixelmator for iPad.”
The developers at Pixelmator did not just settle for migrating the iPad feature set over to the iPhone, though. During development, they also built in new features like Metal-powered Distort tools and a new Clone option.
Pixelmator for iPhone also comes with retouching and repair tools along with a variety of templates to use in creating your own graphics. Support for iCloud syncing and Handoff is built in, and the program even includes an extension for Apple’s Photos that allows you to tap Pixelmator effects in-app.
